Push chain for package transfer hoods

ANDRA, deep nuclear waste storage, Bure Laboratory - Meuse (55), France

For long and medium life waste, ANDRA (French national agency for radioactive waste management), via its Bure underground research laboratory, is studying the feasibility of deep geological storage. Cigéo (Industrial geological storage centre) is the French project for deep storage of radioactive waste.

The SERAPID push chain was selected to create prototypes for this project. Inserted in the transfer hoods, the SERAPID push chain is used to position the packages in the storage compartments. Requiring no maintenance, the compactness and compliance of the SERAPID rigid chain brings a perfectly adapted solution to the constraints of this specific environment.

The equipment - a 130 SG RollBeam with chain, drive casing and specific magazine - manufactured in plain steel and paint that cannot be contaminated, was designed and built to measure for this application.

The SERAPID design office's 40 years of applied experience allow it to adapt products and design solutions to meet the specific and demanding constraints of the nuclear industry. Don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss your projects.
