Serapid Announces Grand Opening of New Stage Project
Bad Mergenthiem,Germany, 23 April 2014: Serapid Gmbh announces that one of its newest stage lift projects, the Musikken Hus (House of Music II) in Aalborg, Denmark, held its Grand Opening and first performance on 29 March, 2014.
This strikingly modern concert venue was designed by Austrian architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. The building has four performance halls, arranged in a U-shaped block with a 1,300 seat world class, symphonic concert hall at the core. Theatre consultants Arup and Pollock+ Friedlander produced the intricate stage design, and stagecraft experts SBS Bühnentechnik were selected to construct the venue. Having had great success with Serapid Lifts for past projects, it was a natural choice to bring Serapid to the team, bringing this project to realization.
The main hall has a complex stage system comprised of 10 curved stage platforms driven by 42 Serapid LinkLift columns, operating independently and controlled by a touch-screen interface. The LinkLift is a powerful lifting product, made with Serapid’s Rigid Chain Technology (RCT), and is known for both a compact footprint and stable, precise positioning of very heavy loads. The resulting stage design provides a remarkably reconfigurable space, easily changed to suit any performance need.
Serapid is pleased to add this prestigious venue to its portfolio, and looks forward to continued service in providing technological innovation to the cultural community.
